The Proper Dress For Students

The Proper Dress- Dance wear is designed to allow a student freedom of movement while allowing a teacher to see the lines and musculature of the body. For these reasons, simple styles work best, however, we also understand that each child has a unique personality and this is often displayed through the choice of clothes. We ask you to chose your dance wear keeping in mind the ultimate goal of the dance lesson: maximum freedom of movement with nothing distracting! Girls may wear any color and any style leotard (except leotards with suspender straps) . Please wear tights. For modesty sake, and for comfort in every activity, a dancers legs must be covered. Jazz pants are allowed during tap/jazz class. Ballet skirts with elastic waistbands may be worn. Ballet skirts that require tying are not acceptable.

BOYS- may wear bike shorts of any color and T-shirt of any color tucked in.

For all Students: Do not wear costumes to class. It distracts other dancers, and confines certain floor exercises. Traditional dance wear only!!! Girls should not wear distracting jewelry to class. Examples would be-earrings that dangle, bracelets of ANY kind, necklaces that dangle low.

Dress code Dance With Me ( babies) -Comfortable clothing for both caregiver and baby.
Dress Code for Wee Dance 2 ( two year olds)-pink tights, pink ballet shoes, any color leotard. Boys, T-shirt, shorts.

Preschool 3’s – Kinder -solid light pink or purple color and any style leotard. Please, wear tights. Ballet skirts with elastic waistbands may be worn. Ballet skirts that require tying are not acceptable.

1st-5th Graders– solid purple color (light or dark) and any style leotard (except leotards with suspender straps). Jazz pants are allowed during tap/jazz class. Ballet skirts with elastic waistbands may be worn. Ballet skirts that require tying are not acceptable.

6th grade and – up – solid black or navy leotard is the only color allowed. Cover ups may not be worn during ballet class. Students may wear short shear ballet skirts of any color and any style. Jazz pants are allowed during tap/jazz class. Crop tops may be worn in jazz.

Adults- We ask you to choose your dance wear keeping in mind the ultimate goal of the dance lesson: maximum freedom of movement with nothing distracting!
